Introduction to Mindfulness 

4-week online course

In this 4-week series, learn simple and accessible meditation practices and other ways to practice mindfulness in everyday life, based on the Buddha’s teachings of the Four Foundations of Mindfulness and evidence-based Mindfulness Based Interventions for mental health.


Topics covered will include: how to work with an active mind, debunking common myths about meditation, exploring different postures of meditation, working with difficulties in our practice, practical applications of mindfulness in daily life, and how to cultivate compassion for self and others.


This series includes periods of guided practice, discussion, and personal reflection. Recorded meditations will be provided for home practice.


Note: This workshop is live streamed online via Zoom. Participants will require a reliable internet source, and a device with free Zoom software to participate.

Please pay what you can. Clients with extended health coverage may be eligible for reimbursement.

We are dedicated to offering accessible rates. There are two scholarships available at $75 each. Please email to request this rate. Priority will be given to those made most marginalized including BIPOC, trans, and disabled folx.

Course Description:

Mindfulness refers to a way of being present, curious, and open to what is happening in the moment, with kindness. It’s a skill that can be cultivated through meditation and other intentional practices, and is an especially useful skill to develop and apply in times of change and uncertainty.

Course Facilitator: Ruby Knafo, OT Reg. (Ont.)

Ruby (she/her) is an occupational therapist, meditation teacher, and the owner of Union Yoga + Wellness. She is passionate about offering mindfulness based practices that are accessible to all, and provides a compassionate space for learning. Ruby is certified in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy and has taken advanced courses at the Centre for Mindfulness Studies and University of Toronto.

Forever a student, Ruby has practiced meditation for over 10 years and has studied with world renowned teachers including Joseph Goldstein, Pascal Auclair, and Kamala Masters. She is currently participating in a 2-year mentorship program with True North Insight.  Ruby offers groups and private coaching to help clients manage stress, anxiety, and foster resilience.
