Thai Yoga Massage

Thai Yoga is a whole body system of healing. Thai Yoga Massage combines assisted stretching, soft tissue massage and rhythmic palming/thumbing over the body’s sen – energy lines – and acupressure points to help release tension, increase circulation and move blocked energy through the body. This massage is performed on a mat on the floor with the client dressed in comfortable clothes suitable for stretching.

Casually referred to as “yoga for lazy people”, the activation of energy lines by palming/thumbing up the arms and legs allows the client to completely relax while being gently guided through a series of yoga postures (manually assisted stretches, twists, backbends, forward folds, circling of ankles and wrists, etc.). The practitioner also massages the entire body using hands, knees, elbows and feet. Together these actions result in a comprehensive full body treatment that relieves muscular tension, lubricates joints, improves blood circulation and organ function, boosts the immune system, and relaxes the body and mind.

Believed to be over 2500 years old, traditional Thai massage is an authentic healing modality that is deeply rooted in the Indian traditions of Ayurvedic medicine. Since it’s arrival in Thailand, Thai families have been passing along the techniques and benefits of Thai Massage from generation to generation. This unique form of bodywork is not only used to heal and treat illness, but rather to prevent energetic imbalances and to maintain health and well-being.

Treat your mind, body, and spirit. Relieve stress and tension through Reiki’s natural energetic healing. Reiki is a Japanese healing modality to help move blocked or stagnant energy out of the body, to restore vitality in the body, and to heal physical, mental and emotional inbalances. Clients are left with a feeling of balance and tranquility.

During a Reiki treatment, energy flows from the practitioner’s hands into the client to either send positive healing energy or to assist in removing negative energy stored in the body due to stress, poor health, emotional trauma, etc. Typically performed with the client lying on a massage table, the practitioner places his/her hands on or just hovering above the client’s fully clothed body in a series of hand positions; slowly moving from head to toe (as any stale, negative or toxic energy is said to leave out the feet). The practitioner is guided to hold each position for two to ten minutes depending on how much Reiki the client needs at each position.

The true source of Reiki energy is the Universal life force that is accessible from within ourselves. The term Reiki comes from the Japanese words ‘rei’ meaning “God’s Wisdom or Higher Power” and ‘ki’ meaning “life force energy”. Therefore, your practitioner is attuned to act as a channel through which you receive your own natural healing potential. Please allow for some quiet time for reflection following your treatment.

Amanda Stokes

Amanda was first introduced to Thai Massage while travelling and working at an elementary school in Thailand. Witnessing the power of this whole-body system of healing, she began to incorporate Thai Massage assists into her yoga classes and for her private yoga clients. She received her training in Thai Massage from Bahn Thai Spa, here in Toronto. As an experienced Yoga Instructor, Amanda is interested and enthusiastic about many forms of movement and holistic healing and is now offering Reiki treatments, as well. Outside of the studio Amanda loves to dance, travel and sing in the shower!

Melissa Lesic

Melissa first discovered Thai massage while training to become a yoga teacher in 2010 and quickly noticed the benefits of yoga and massage in conjunction with one another. She finds that the symbiotic relationship between movement, stretching and massage has the the ability to deeply relax muscles, improve range of motion, and facilitate a deeper mind/body connection. After years of incorporating massage into her yoga sessions, Melissa completed the 150 Thai massage training program at Thai Massage Toronto in 2016. A session with Melissa incorporates supported yoga postures, passive stretching, and massage techniques to find release in the body while washing away tension and stress. Sessions are customized to each person’s unique needs and require no specific level of fitness or flexibility.
