Pre-natal Yoga – Pre-registered series

Pre-natal yoga is a great way to connect with other pregnant women and to stay active during all stages of pregnancy in a safe and supportive environment. Prenatal Yoga can be both challenging and relaxing.  In this this series you will be encouraged to prepare for your little one through education, asana (yoga postures), mindful meditations and pranayama (breath training).

These classes are designed to be well rounded giving you a full 75 minutes to move, breathe, relax and connect with both your baby and other pregnant women. Suitable for all levels and all trimesters, and no yoga experience required.

Please note that while prenatal yoga is generally safe any time during your pregnancy if you are otherwise healthy, we encourage you only to begin a yoga practice if you are feeling well and comfortable.

Prenatal yoga at Union is offered as a  pre-registered course, with drop-ins allowed if space permits. Pre-registration is strongly recommended.

Post Natal Yoga – Parent and Baby

Home with a new baby? Bring your little one over to Union and treat yourself to a yoga class in the company of other new parents, lead by an experienced instructor. Yoga can be a great way to begin safely strengthening, stretching, taking care of the body and mind following pregnancy and labour, and provides a safe space for new parents to connect and find community.

No experience required. Nursing, bottle feeding, diapering, crying, giggling, and everything else that comes with the territory of babies is welcome and expected.

This series is for caregivers who have recently welcomed a new baby into their lives (Moms, Dads, supportive partners).

Given that our space is not very large, we ask that only pre-crawling babies attend. Women who are post-partum are recommended to receive clearance from their health care provider for exercise before participating.

Our current series is Wednesdays 11 am until October 10 and has drop-in space available or sign up for 4 weeks or more to save.

Mom and Baby yoga

Restore Your Core – Post-natal Fusion

The effects of pregnancy and birth, not to mention the physical demands of motherhood can leave women feeling weak, disconnected and in pain.

This 6-week series is specifically designed to help women reconnect and re-strengthen their bodies in a safe and effective way after birth.

Join Laura Wood, prenatal and postnatal yoga+pilates teacher, Core Confidence Specialist and doula, as she offers women a holistic and whole body approach to postpartum re-training.

Classes focus on restoring function to the deep core muscles and abdominals as well as focusing on posture, breathing and functional movements so women feel more supported in their every day lives. Each class draws on yoga, pilates and corrective exercises to provide a balanced movement practice that releases over worked muscles while restoring core function and overall strength so mothers feel stronger and more energized.

Participants will receive weekly follow up emails with exercises and educational tips to help them feel inspired and confident as they restrengthen and restore their bodies after birth.

This series is for women who are at least 6 weeks post partum and have received clearance from their health care provider for exercise. All babies up to early crawlers welcome.
